About Us

Established in 1973 Mel Schmidt Panel Works has grown to be Sunraysia’s premier automotive accident repairer, panel beater and spray painter of private and fleet vehicles of all makes and models. Its co-business, Craig’s Towing Service established in 1991 is the largest towing service in Sunraysia consisting of four tilt tray tow trucks providing 24/7 accident and breakdown service throughout North-Western Victoria and Southwestern NSW.

Our Workshop

The 6000 square metre site consists of a 3000 square metre undercover workshop, spray painting area, 2 quoting bays, staff facilities, administration office and customer comfort area. The workshop features state-of-the-art repair and spray-painting equipment and techniques, a highly skilled team of tradespeople complemented by friendly, honest and caring customer service.

The remodelling of the workspace and storage site has improved greatly the operation of the business with the focus strongly on customer service and comfort along with space and equipment to ensure ‘as new’ repairs. The Mel Schmidt Panel Works team are constantly updated with the latest techniques and technologies.

The massive workshop is geared to repair virtually anything and is fitted with the latest equipment including an ultrasonic measuring system and inverter spot welder for high strength steels, two state-of-the-art baking ovens and a high-tech paint mixing facility.

Caring for the Environment and Our Valued Customers

The business is strongly geared toward recycling with rainwater tanks installed to farm and utilise the rainwater, cardboard and packaging recycled, steel panels sent off as scrap metal and even the damaged plastic bumper bars recycled into fence posts and other environmentally friendly products.

Craig and Loris manage the business in a caring, friendly and helpful way that makes customers feel that their needs are being understood, their queries are answered honestly, and they are being provided with the best service possible.
